Sherry Lynn Conover Floor was born January 7, 1953 in the Salt Lake area, Utah to Arden Verl Conover and Barbara Daybell Conover. They subsequently moved to Blue Diamond, Nevada by way of Henderson where she spent her school years. She enjoyed girl scouts, horseback riding, and working in the Blue Diamond Elementary School Library. Sherry graduated from Las Vegas High School in May 1971.
Sherry and Dennis met at a square dance and they only had eyes for each other from then on. They were married August 27, 1971 in Las Vegas. Their son, Steven, was born October 20, 1974, just six weeks before Dennis' deployment to Thailand. Kevin was born December 21, 1977. Sherry stayed home to raise their boys until 1988. While she was at home with the boys, she babysat other children and assisted with the boys' scouting pack. She went back to school and graduated from Clark County Community College majoring in Bookkeeping. She then went to work for the Clark County School District. Sherry's first position was as a library assistant, and she moved to the computer lab and finally as registrar at Faye Heron Elementary School. She was the School District for 20 years.
Sherry was diagnosed with a rare form of neuropathy in the late 80's. Sherry remained positive throughout her life dealing with the effects of this disease. The most common description of Sherry is "AMAZING". Team Sherry (Dennis and Sherry) pressed on and shared a wonderful life together. She was involved with her family and extended family and friends. She used her many talents to make gifts and teach others her skills. She sewed, painted ceramics, crocheted, scrapbooked, created miniature rooms, and made stuffed animals, "foot" stools, and dolls. You name it and she could do it! Oftentimes, voluntarily or convincingly, getting others to go along with her schemes! All the while, Dennis was right there with her.
Sherry loved her family above all else. She loved, loved, loved her children, which includes her daughters-in-law; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; aunts and uncles; nephews (and their families); and her in-laws. Her brother, Craig, survives her and she was so proud of him.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Verl and Barbara Conover, and her sister, Vickie Conover Stultz.
