

Schylar Barnhill, 61, of Rancho Palos Verdes, California passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Henderson Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. The memorial service will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Rolling Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church, 28340 Highridge Road, Rolling Hills Estates, 90274 beginning at 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. The interment will follow at a private service at Green Hills Mortuary. Schylar was born in 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio to former NBA basketball player and L.A. Laker coach, John Barnhill and Janet Lee. Schylar is the second of three children. John Barnhill’s career took his family across the USA to conclude his career in Rancho Palos Verdes, California in 1972, where Schylar eventually attended Palos Verdes High School. Schylar was an avid athlete noting a 1978 Palos Verdes High School Bay League women's Tennis Championship. After high school, Schylar studied culinary arts in the state of Washington, followed by UNLV which led to her career as a chef at the famous Bellagio Hotel, in Las Vegas, Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in New Jersey, and other food services bringing her to Syracuse, New York. Schylar was baptized in the Adventist Faith at Westvale Seventh-day Adventist Church. Schylar is survived by her mother, Janet Lee Barnhill of Rancho Palos Verdes, brother John Barnhill of San Francisco, Elayna Barnhill Moffitt of Piscataway, New Jersey, and Harry & Benny (beloved pets).
