Samuel Rainey, 71, a long-time resident of the Las Vegas area, passed away on February 19, 2023.
He was born August 30, 1951, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Sam Rainey and Girlie Mae Marks. Sam received his education in Las Vegas Nevada and was a graduate of Clark High School, Class of 1969 and continued his studies at UNLV before enlisting into the US Navy in November of 1971. During his enlistment, Samuel served on the USS Joseph Strauss in the Pacific Fleet and was Honorably Discharged in 1973. Sam started operating as a Clark County Firefighter in 1987 and after 25 years of serving the community, he retired in February of 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; his son Sam Jr. (Melissa); his son Brian (April); three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Additionally, his sisters Virginia Lighten, Eddie Mae Warner, and his brother Calvin Morris.
The viewing will be Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 10:45 a.m., with service starting at 12:00 p.m. at Palm Downtown Mortuary.
