Salvador Isaac Estrada, age 79, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on December 15, 2014. Son of Francisco and Anicia Estrada, he was born on June 22, 1935 in Sipocot, Philippines. He was the eldest of eight children. Salvador received his Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering and then in 1966 earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Feati University, Manila. Shortly afterward, he began work with Joint U.S. Military Advisory Group (JUSMAG) as a Civil Engineer. On June 6, 1967, he married Yolanda M. Moran then moved to the United States in 1971. They started their family in Oxnard, California and in 1977 made the move to Las Vegas, Nevada where he began working for Clark County Public Works. In 1981, he started working for the Bureau of Land Management as an Area Civil Engineer. Among his projects were the Visitor’s Center, desert tortoise habitat, helipad, and flood basins in the Red Rock Canyon Recreation Area. In his spare time, Salvador enjoyed fixing cars, particularly Cadillacs, Mercedes Benz, and Jeeps. He and his wife also owned and managed several rental homes throughout the Las Vegas Valley. He enjoyed spending time at home especially in the company of his grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Yolanda; his daughters Marjorie Schmidt and Jane Abrams; his sons-in-law Jamin Schmidt and Jack Abrams; and his grandsons Andrew, Ethan, and Jaden.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 3:00 – 7:00pm at Palm Eastern Mortuary. On Monday, December 22 a funeral service will be held at the St. Viator Catholic Community Church at 10:00am..
