Rev. Hooks was the brother of my late Pastor, Rev. G. E. Hooks! Both powerful Men of God! Rest in Paradise! You are in good company! Prayers of strength are with you Family!

Reverend Hooks was my Pastor and such a wonderful counselor. While I moved on from The Great Commission he was always still close to my heart. He will be missed by many.


My friend!  Will never forget Pastor Hooks.  We moved to Las Vegas knowing practically no one.  I wanted to leave some info regarding music, he stepped in the vestibule, saw me, said yes of course that's a good service to the community! He was a true gentleman, friend and my husband just loved him too. We will miss his calm and gentle demeanor. Rest my friend, you worked hard and long.  Arthur & Marsha 

We will forever treasure the wisdom and guidance he gave us over the years.  He married us twenty six years ago and remained a constant spiritual force for us and our children.  His heart felt concern and sincere love for all he knew was genuine.  We miss you and love you dearly.

WITNESSED THE GREAT COMMISSION GROW FROM HIS LODGE TO WHAT IT IS TODAY. ALL I CAN SAY IS JOB WELL DONE AND CONDOLENCES TO THE HOOKS FAMILY AND MY PRAYERS FOR COMFORT AND STRENGTH. 

I was so very saddened to hear of Bishop Hooks' passing.  He was such a sweet spirit and wonderful man of God.  I haven't seen him in years, but he is marked on my memory.  He will be missed and the love coming from the Shead family, whose lives he touched greatly, is full.  May God bring comfort to all those mourning his passing, but may God receive him with joy. Great Man! Was a Father Figure to me as well as led an EXCELLENT Godly  life before my family. Always had great counsel and wisdom. Set an unprecedented foundation within me with Godly principles. I STILL live by his awesome words of wisdom. He will forever be in my heart and the heart of my family.

My husband and I met Rev. Sylvester Hooks at the Community Missionary Baptist Church in Seaside, CA, where he would come annually to preach at the Pastor and Wife's Appreciation service for his brother, the late Rev. G.E. Hooks.  Rev. Sylvester Hooks was a dynamic preacher...filled with the Holy Ghost.  He was a man of integrity who loved the Lord, his family and people of all races and creeds.  It was our honor to know him on this side of heaven...but we will see him again in that great gettin' up morning!  We will continue to pray for the family.

The Homegoing celebration  services for Bishop Hooks are the following:  Viewing:  The Great Commission ID Church, Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 
Time:  4-8 pm
Funeral:  Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 
11 am at Second Baptist Church. 

What a blessing and honor to have met this man of God.  Our son John thought the world of this man and we surely knew why after our attending church services in Vegas and got to hear the word of God preached by Pastor Hooks.  The Family of Pastor Hook's we say God Bless each of you and we pray for comfort for all.  We love You much!

The most humble man that I have ever met in my life.  He loved everyone and was always there for you. One never knew where his spirit ended and GOD's began.  The world will be a much lonelier place with him gone.  Great are his rewards in Heaven.     Psalms 116:15
