Ruben Edward Hood, 42, a resident of Las Vegas for 21 years, passed away April 25, 2012. He was born Dec. 26, 1969 in Kingman, Ariz., graduating from Kingman High School in 1986. He served four years in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence in Seoul, South Korea. He was a 20-year veteran of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, receiving a Medal of Valor and other commendations during his tenure on the force. He was an ardent fan of the Arizona Cardinals. Ruben was the only student in the sixth-grade class to be sent home with a report card with a comment from his teacher to please instruct him that gambling was not allowed in school. Ruben will always be remembered for his pranks and tremendous sense of humor, generosity and compassion. Ruben is survived by his parents, Steve and Elizabeth Hagen; his sisters, Rachael, Dinell, and Lydia; and his brother, Kevin. He leaves behind his wife, Brenda; his six-year old son, Logan, whom he cherished; and various aunts, uncles and cousins. The void in our hearts will be hard to fill. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m., Friday, May 4, at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to our American War Veterans, as Ruben was an avid supporter.
