

Rosendo L. Rivas Jr., 83, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at his home in Pahrump, NV. Rosendo was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 31, 1940. He was the son of Rosendo Rivas Sr. and Emilena Rivas. He married Lillian Rivas on December 17, 1961 in Texas. They were happily married for 61 glorious years. He worked as a printer, musician, had a vending machine business and he was a real estate investor. His passion was being a professional poker player which he enjoyed very much and won many trophies at tournaments. He was a veteran and served in the Army from 1958-1961. He was President of the Latin American Club in Lancaster, California.
Rosendo is survived by his wife Lillian Rivas, his daughter Cecilia Bravo, son-in-law Rudy Bravo Jr., his daughter Cynthia Acosta, son-in-law Anthony Acosta, his son Rosendo Rivas III, daughter-in-law Sylvia Herrera, his son Frank Rivas and his sister Helen Ayala. He had eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He had several nieces, nephews, cousins and many people that loved and adored him. Rosendo was a man of so much love, care and generosity. He impacted so many people deeply and he held so many people close to his heart. He loved company, being around loved ones, telling jokes, going for a drive and eating ice cream. He taught all his children and grandchildren how to play Crazy 8 and Poker. His life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Rosendo had a heart of gold and will live in our hearts forever.
Viewing will be from 3 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Palm Eastern Mortuary 7600 South Eastern Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89123. Funeral services and burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr. Boulder City, NV 89005 with Father Simine Fernandez of Christ The King Catholic Church, officiating.
Pallbearers will be Rosendo Rivas III, Frank Rivas, Rudy Bravo Jr., Rudy Bravo III, Vincent Bravo and Tyler Holdren.
