Ronald Joseph Wellendorf, age 84, passed peacefully at home in Dublin, CA, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Wellendorf. Ronald is survived by his five children: Ronald Wellendorf Jr., Richard Wellendorf, Catherine Bashiruddin, Carol Robison and Christina Wellendorf. He also leaves behind two brothers, Paul Rauch and Richard Wellendorf, cousin Myra Collingwood Franko, great nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Ronald served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He was stationed in Canada where he met his soulmate, Doris. He later moved to Las Vegas, where he worked for the United States Post Office for 17 years.
His favorite pastimes included bowling, playing pool, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved sports, dancing, and recording songs for his family. He was loved by all for his kindness, selflessness, sense of humor, and joy.
Ronald’s funeral service will be on May 11 at 8:30 am at Palm Mortuary on Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada. He will be laid to rest at Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, where he will be buried alongside his wife, Doris. A celebration of life will follow at Sunset Park from 12-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org), a cause near to his heart.
