

Roger Fowler Sherman Jr, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2023, in Las Vegas, NV. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Humphrey) Sherman of 22 years; sister, Ingrid Anne Sherman of Clarkston, MI (nephew Jack and niece Kathleen Turner); Lifelong “sister” Cindee Teer, Ventura, CA; Aunt Anne Sherman Owens of Plantation, FL (cousins James and Michael Owens); cousins, Debra Ann Coolidge, Steven and Roger Mudgett. Brother-in-law James Humphrey (Lori), Paradise Valley, AZ; Brother-in-Law Thomas Humphrey, San Diego, CA; Sister-in Law, Carol Falls, Las Vegas, NV. Nephew, Dr. Tyler Humphrey; Nieces, Sarah and Catherine Humphrey; Catherine and Elizabeth Falls as well as countless lifelong friends and colleagues.
Roger was preceded in death by his loving parents, Roger Fowler Sherman, Sr., and Judith Ann Young Sherman of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Glencoe, IL; Uncle Clyde Owens; Aunt Sally Sherman Pulfer, and cousins, David Owens, FL and Charles Mudgett, TX; and his beloved dog Charlie.
Roger was very proud and humble of his family’s legacy. Roger was the 4th direct descendent of Roger Sherman, the only person to sign all four of the important Revolutionary documents: the Articles of Association in 1774, the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the Articles of Confederation in 1781, and the Constitution of the United States in 1787.
Roger was born in Evanston, Illinois, on July 1,1965. He graduated from New Trier Township High School in Winnetka, Illinois in 1983. Roger was a gifted athlete and champion hockey player. One of his proudest moments was winning 1st place at the Amateur Hockey Association Illinois High School AAA, Hockey State Championships in 1982-1983.
Roger attended Michigan State University and was an active member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity where he cultivated many lifelong friendships. He graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Packaging Engineering. Roger's career path led him to Southern California and eventually to the Bay Area where he worked as a Western Regional Sales Manager for Sonoco and National Account Manager for Ball Corporation. While working full-time, Roger commuted to Malibu for 2 years, and achieved his goal of receiving a Master of Business Administration at Pepperdine University in 1997.
On March 2, 2002, Roger married the love of his life, Susan, in La Jolla, CA. They shared a passion for travel and adventure and created many wonderful lifetime memories. He was a devoted husband and cared deeply for his family and friends and had a strong faith in God. As a brave cancer survivor, Roger supported others and volunteered at the American Cancer Society. One of Roger’s biggest accomplishments was his sobriety. Through his journey, he counseled, mentored, and changed many lives for the better. Roger was an avid golfer and lifelong sports enthusiast. In 1996, he ran and finished the LA Marathon which was another lifelong goal and accomplishment.
Roger and Susan recently moved to Las Vegas, NV from San Diego as Roger accepted a position with Veritiv. It was his dream job. He excelled and was on the path to great success.
Roger never met a stranger and made a connection with everyone he met. He was always willing to help anyone in need. Roger will best be remembered for his kind and loving spirit. He loved animals and had compassion for all his furry friends. He lived life to the fullest and always brought a powerful essence of fun to everyone he touched. His huge smile, laughter, positive outlook, and sense of humor will truly be missed.
Roger’s Celebration of Life will be held in San Diego, CA and date will be announced in the coming months.
