RODNEY FUNSTON Rodney B. Funston, 83, beloved husband and father, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015. Rod was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Foster and Dorothy Funston. He attended Mansfield High School and continued his education at Columbia College in Los Angeles, where he earned his bachelor's degree in engineering. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served during the Korean War. He started his career in the television engineering industry in the 1960's at KCOY-TV in Santa Maria, Calif., eventually joining the production team at KLCS-TV in Los Angeles. He fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams when he built and was the proud owner of the broadcast facilities for the radio station KLOI 107.3 in Grover Beach, Calif. He retired from broadcasting the 1990's and he and his beloved wife, Laura, moved to Las Vegas. Rod was preceeded in death by his father, Foster Funston; mother, Dorothy Funston; and brother, Michael Funston. Rodney is survived by his wife, Laura; sons, Jeffery and his wife, Susan Funston, and Eric Funston; daughters, Sharon and her husband, Jim Provencher, and Sally and her husband, Norman Suenaga; grandchildren, Jennifer Kilcoyne, Patrick Provencher and Jason Suenaga; three great-grandchildren, Jennar, Adrian and Brittany; sister, Janeen Ziegler; brother, Bruce and his wife, Barbara Funston; and sister-in-law, Emily Funston. Visitation will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services following at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Boulder City. Reception Following at Sun Reef Road
