Rodney “Rod” Durfee passed away in Henderson, Nevada on May 9, 2023 at the age of 55. Rodney is survived by his wife Barbara Durfee of twenty-five years. They were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 19, 1998.
Rod is lovingly remembered by his mother LaVonne “Bonnie” Durfee, father Michael (Pamela) Durfee, mother in law Mary Borowski, brothers Kenneth Durfee and William Hassella, sisters Kari (Eric) Chandler and Kasandra Echtinaw, sister in law Lisa (Nolan) Jaffe, brother in law Donald “Jay-are” (Amanda) Borowski, nephew Ryan (Katie) Jaffe, niece Kayla (Bill) McMahon and great nephews Cameron Jaffe and William McMahon.
Rod was born in Spokane, Washington on October 27, 1967. He attended General H. H. Arnold High School from 1981-1985. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army. After the military, Rodney worked in the service industry where he built caring relationships with clients and colleagues.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Rod. He enjoyed exploring the outdoors, playing bingo, crafting, listening to music, and most importantly sharing his many stories and memories. He loved spending quality time with the love of his life and best friend, Barb, and their family friends. Rodney’s kind and optimistic personality was contagious to everyone he met.
Rodney was a man of God. He believed God blessed him and the people around him. His faith was unmatched. Rodney believed in God’s plan and he is now home with the Lord.
A celebration of life for Rodney will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Central Church, 1001 New Beginnings Dr., Henderson, NV 89011. To honor Rod, we ask that everyone wear casual clothing. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Wounded Warrior Project.
