Robin Lee Shutt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robin Lee Shutt, age 79, on December 3, 2024. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Robin was strong, thoughtful, and kind, and will be greatly missed.

Robin was born on August 23, 1945 in Concord, Massachusetts to Robert Mark and Natalie L.(Wilder) Mara. She attended Rosary Academy and Watertown High School before earning her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Middlesex Community College in Bedford, Massachusetts. Robin’s career in Human Resources began at Cambridge Memory Systems, later Cambex in Waltham, Massachusetts. She moved to Charrette Products and Reprographics Divisions in 1985 and had a long career there that spanned 17 years. She left Charrette in 2002 when she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to be close to her daughters. She used her human resources background and knowledge as she transitioned to Legal Administrator for Prince and Keating and then Keating Law Group in Las Vegas from 2002 until her retirement in March 2023. She enjoyed solving problems in her work and would often be called upon after her retirement for questions, input, and ideas.

Robin loved keeping up with current events. She enjoyed getting news from local and national stations, but PBS News Hour and BBC America were her favorite sources of information. She sought multiple viewpoints to deepen her understanding of the events of the day. Mysteries on PBS and Masterpiece Theater brought her great enjoyment. There were often jokes about all the murders that seemed to happen in small English villages. Robin enjoyed watching and following the favorite college football teams of her daughters and family. She could get very invested in a game and often yelled at the teams on the television. Robin began vegetable gardening in the early 1970s and even had a home compost bin long before they became a regular staple. She continued her love of growing tomatoes in Las Vegas and enjoyed having two growing seasons in the desert. Robin also loved to feed and care for the birds in her yard in Massachusetts, which she did for many years. This is where her feud with squirrels began. They would try to outsmart her to get to the bird seed and she would try to outsmart them to keep them away. This continued for years. When Robin moved to Las Vegas, there were no squirrels to feud with, but her daughters and sons-in-law made sure she had plenty of stuffed, straw and glass squirrels around the house to keep her on her toes.

Robin is survived by her daughters and their spouses Karen Shutt (John Gierard) of Berthoud, Colorado and Susan Boschee (Rodney) of Las Vegas, Nevada, her step-granddaughters Chenae Sidders (Daniel) and Tanya Laursen (Brett), and her three step-great grandchildren Aiden Sidders, Emma Sidders, and Oskar Laursen, as well as by her former husband, Richard Shutt, her extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Pamela Airasian (Mara).

A Celebration of life will be held in Las Vegas at 11:00 a.m. on January 10, 2025, with a reception immediately following. Her final resting place will be in the family plot in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Concord, Massachusetts at a later date.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Rest well, Robin.
