FEBRUARY 11, 1924 - APRIL 19, 1992
Robert John “Sully” Sullivan, 68 years old, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formally of East Orange, New Jersey, passed away April 19, 1992.
Born February 11, 1924 in Taylor, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Martin John Sullivan and Helen Elizabeth (Black) Sullivan.
Robert graduated from Taylor High School in June 1942. Four months after graduating high school he volunteered to fight in WWII, serving in the United States Army from October 1942 until October 1945 in the Asiatic-Pacific campaign. He married in 1949 and began his new family in East Orange, NJ; years later moving to the booming town of Las Vegas with greater opportunities. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the United States Postal Service in Las Vegas for 28 years.
Robert was a loving husband and father with an easy going personality who could be happy sitting with a cold beer in his hand and listening to country western music. Bob was a prolific poet who could conjure up a poem for almost every person or occasion in a matter of minutes. He was loved by his family and friends and will be missed.
Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie Sullivan, his son Robert L. Sullivan Jr., and his daughter Michele Elizabeth Sullivan. His grandchildren, Robert and Preston Sullivan and Nicole (Sullivan) Anderson. Also Jean Sullivan (daughter-in-law) and two brothers, Edward J. Sullivan and Martin T. Sullivan.
His funeral Mass was held at St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, and burial took place at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada.
