Robert William Shreck

M.D. Robert William Shreck, 61, of Henderson, passed away May 1, 2010. He was born Oct. 3, 1948, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a 33-year resident of Nevada. Robert graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1974 with a doctorate of medicine, completed family practice residency at the Memorial Hospital of Long Beach in 1977, and began practicing medicine in Las Vegas in that year. He practiced medicine at A Family Health Care Center for 30 years before closing his practice to pursue a career as a medical director, ending his career as the medical director for HealthCare Partners of Nevada. He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice, a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and taught as an Associate Clinical Professor for the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He received numerous awards within the medical community including '99 Nevada Physician of the Year, '02 NSMA Liaison to the Nevada Legislative Special Session on Medical Liability, '03 Good Fellow Award from the NSMA staff, and the '04 Distinguished Physician of the Year by the Clark County Medical Society. In 2006, he completed his master's in medical management from the University of Southern California. He held multiple leadership positions throughout his career in the AMA, AAFP, CCMS and NSMA. He was a lifelong Huskers and Trojan Football fan, an avid golfer, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother, Horace and Sheila Shreck. Robert is survived by his wife Jay; brother, Jim (Annette); children, Sarah (Don), Jessica (Roy), Stephanie (Matthew), Todd and Tyson; grandchildren, Keeley and Kaden; and a baby granddaughter on the way. Memorial service will be at noon Saturday, May 8, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
