Robert Richard Rugg, a native of Bloomfield, New Jersey, and resident of Las Vegas for 34 years, passed away at age 90 on September 4, 2018. Bob was born on February 9, 1928 in Passaic, New Jersey, to the late Charles Baxter Rugg and Helen Angel Rugg. After attending high school Robert served as a Military Policeman in the Army. Following an honorable discharge, he worked as a lab technician for Union Carbide Chemical Corporation until retiring and relocating to Las Vegas in 1984. Bob enjoyed the tourist industry while working as a shuttle bus driver for the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino until his second retirement in 1999. Robert was the devoted husband of the late Mary Patricia Rugg, married for 53 years. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Milder and Charles Rugg Jr. Bob is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Borusiewicz (Joseph Sr.); and Cheryl Winnemore (Neil); of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Joseph Borusiewicz, Jr. (Tanya), Jennifer Quimson (Michael), and Kevin Winnemore; and great-granddaughter, Helaina Borusiewicz. Robert was an avid sports enthusiast, and believed that daily exercise along with proper nutrition was the key to longevity. Music was dear to his heart; he could sing the lyrics from songs throughout the decades. He was happiest playing games and relaxing while spending time with his family and friends. Bob will be remembered most for his ability to uplift people’s spirits with his positive attitude and friendly smile. His encouragement, wisdom, and love will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation on Monday, September 10th, viewing from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and service from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Palm Cheyenne Mortuary, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89129.
