Robert S. Perez was born on May 26, 1965 at St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii to Jonathan and Cheryl Perez. Rob was raised in Pearl City, Hawaii with four siblings: one older brother, Michael; two younger sisters, Anna and Bonnie; and one younger brother, Jon Jr. As a young child, Rob rarely called attention to himself, but when he did speak out, he got along great with everyone. As he grew up, Rob enjoyed breakdancing and playing sports like football. When he was 12 years old, Rob scored a touchdown against a JR Barber's Point team and made his dad oh so proud…
Those who knew Rob well were lucky. Rob was sometimes quiet and shy but according to one of his teachers he was the joker and funny guy in the classroom. He was very likable and polite and never forced his opinions and values on others. Close friends knew that his kindness was unmatched, and once you became a friend of Robert’s, you understood how true a friend he could be. While growing up, some of his best friends were his cousin, Greg Frantz, Alfredo and Randy Paclib, Michael Alvez, and Catalino Bautista. Later in life, he also became friends with Tommy Nakamura and Francis Tabosa.
Rob was always a loving and respectful son and his mom remembers him as the best baby and toddler! He would find a spot to just fall asleep when he was tired, had a great appetite, and never got fussy for anything. He grew up to be sensitive to other’s feelings, modest and tolerant, he was independent and carried a style of his own. He loved passionately. On February 27, 1988, Rob exchanged wedding vows with his beautiful wife Marie Aurelia Hayes at Moanalua Gardens in Honolulu, Hawaii. Rob loved his family unconditionally and would give them the world if he could. He was blessed with four children: three daughters, Cherrelle, Lindsey, and Shannan; and one son, Brandon. He was also blessed with four grandchildren, Patrick, Zayden, Alana, and Ace. His family was rounded out by his dogs Sassy, Passion, Kekoa, Chico, and Beauty, a Maltese Chihuahua mix who he had for 7 years.
Rob was something of a sports fan, and enjoyed bowling, playing ping pong, and playing darts. Whenever he got the chance, Rob also loved watching boxing matches and UFC. A highlight in his life was a recent trip to Hawaii where he was born this past February. He enjoyed the time spent sitting by the ocean with family he had not seen for many years.
Rob loved the Lord and accepted Jesus as his Savior. He was baptized at Lanakila Baptist Church.
Rob passed away on June 13, 2020 at St. Rose Hospital - San Martin in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Cherrelle, Brandon, Lindsey, and Shannan; parents, Jonathan & Cheryl Perez; siblings, Michael, Anna, Bonnie, and Jon Jr; grandchildren, Patrick, Zayden, Alana, and Ace; and mother-in-law, Rose Hayes. Services were held at Palm Southwest Mortuary.
Rob was a beautiful soul and will always be remembered by so many. He loved and was proud of his career as a Master Glazier. He made many friends working at his trade. He was a good man, a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Robert Shannon Perez your precious memory will forever be in our hearts.
