July 3rd, 1957 - January 22nd, 2023
Kevin Marsh lost his battle with congestive heart failure and chronic kidney failure, due to complications from a blood clotting disorder, on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023, at the age of 65, at home, surrounded by his wife Kelly and sons, Tyler and Ryan.
Kevin was born on July 3rd, 1957, to Robert Cecil Marsh and Louise Kofron Marsh in Newport News, Virginia. He graduated from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia in 1976. He worked in the Newport News shipyards for Lockwood Brothers alongside his dad, Robert, and trained to be a crane operator.
In 1993 he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked a short time digging pools and eventually he started working for the City of Las Vegas in the parks department and later moved into the Streets department as an electrician. He worked for the City of Las Vegas for 19 years.
In 1996 he met the love of his life Kelly Marsh (Yank), playing volleyball at a local park. It didn’t take long for either one to realize they were meant to be together. They were engaged on Easter Day, in 1998 and married on May 15th, 1999, at First Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. On February 17th, 2000, they welcomed their first son, Tyler Cole Marsh and on April 17th, 2001, they welcomed their second son Ryan Christopher Marsh. All Kevin talked about was having a happy family and that dream came true in spades.
Everyone that knew Kevin, knew he was the life of the party and could talk to anyone and make them laugh and smile, but first and foremost he was a family man and lived for being there for his boys no matter what they were doing. Whether it was school or sports he made it his priority to be there for them. Not only was he there to watch them but he was there to participate so he could be with them as much as possible. He was everything from a Cub Scout Leader to a soccer coach to a baseball coach and a lacrosse coach. He learned the ropes quickly because if it made them happy, he was happy. Kevin used to joke that he would love to be a stay-at-home Dad, which he essentially was. Once he was off work, he would pick up the boys and cook for them and make sure they did homework and got them to whatever practice or game they needed to get to. He was a great husband and even better Dad to his boys.
In 2014, Kevin retired due to his medical issues but stayed very present for the boys spending as much time with them as he could. He struggled for many years in pain but always set goals for himself for life events. His main goal was to be there to see both boys graduate from high school and that was a very proud moment for him watching them both graduate.
He was in pain most days but wanted to be here with us as long as possible and selfishly we wanted the same, but it was heartbreaking to see him in so much pain. He knew that one day we would all meet again in heaven and that it would be his dream come true again.
John 16:22 “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”
