Robert (Bobby) Gregg, 78, a musician/drummer of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away Saturday May 3, 2014. He was born April 30, 1936 to Anthony and Dorothy Gregg of Philadelphia, PA. He is survived by his wife, Katharine Dwyer Gregg; and daughter, Cindi Ellen King. Bobby’s musical career started as a member of “Paul Whiteman’s TV Teen Club Show” and he toured with Mr. Whiteman for 6 years. In the 50’s he also played with “Steve Gibson and the Redcaps” touring across the country for 5 years. He started recording sessions with Cameo/Parkway in Philadelphia in the early 60’s. He had a top ten hit “The Jam, Part 1 and 2.” Upon moving to N.Y. he started producing at Columbia/Epic Records featuring Buddy Greco, Georgia Gibbs and Frank Hunter and the Huntsmen. Bobby continued doing sessions working with artists such as Chubby Checker, Frankie Valle, Bobby Rydell, The Tokens, Len Barry, Little Eva, and Simon and Garfunkel to name a few. He played drums on Bob Dylan’s “Highway 61 Revisited” and continued that tour. Upon moving to Las Vegas in 1985, he worked in the casinos and lounges around town with different groups. He formed the group The Chosen Few and continued to work until he retired in 1998. He will be missed by his family and friends. Palm Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
