Starting as a private in the role of a forward tank observer, he quickly progressed up the ranks finally retiring as a full bird Colonel in the Transportation Corp. It was during his tour in Okinawa, Japan as the Port Master for military operations at Naha Port, that he met the love of his life, Yoko.
Following military service, Bob continued to serve in civil service in various roles to including base operations at Naval Air Weapon Station – China Lake. In total his career in the military/government totaled over 37 years.
His interests included family, computers, and giving people crap. He devoted much of his time and energy to providing a safe and comfortable life for his wife and family and was an active and proud member of the Las Vegas Rotary Club.
Bob had a full and happy life and is survived by his wife, Yoko Barnard; son and his spouse, Lawrence and Kori Barnard; and 4 grandchildren, Alex, Madison, Landon, and Charlie.
