I met Rick 6 or 7 years ago at a BBQ at our house through Donna.  From the first time I met him, I was impressed with his jovial personality.  And through the years I have always looked forward to spending time with him, whether on the golf course, riding motorcycles, playing Tiger Woods on X-Box, or what ever we were doing.  He has a positive attitude, never a harsh word to anyone, and always with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.  I have been truly fortunate to have met him and consider him my friend.  It's very rare indeed to actually meet someone who has such a profound positive impact on your life and Rick is that kind of person for me.  I will miss him greatly.

A co-worker I had pleasure of knowing - Rick, a dear co-worker that had such a great sense of humor.  He shared a legacy passed down from his father about arriving late to work.  He said he would say "Good morning" to his Dad and his Dad's response would be, "Good afternoon - you're late!" so he would always arrive to work early which has stuck with me as well to be sure to arrive in a timely manner.  That also gave me an opportunity to chat with him and see the true and caring person he was known for.  He could motivate co-workers and share his knowledge with them to where the confidence level and positive atmoshere would emerge just because of his presence.  He loved to tinker and always stayed busy rebuilding valves or just keeping the shop area up to par.  There were even times to join together to play a game of bingo in a Vegas casino on occasion. After my father passed in 2004 there was a special bond that transformed into calling him "Papa Bear" - someone who I would look to for advice on life issues even to the point of returning from a vacation and finding life slipping away from my senior dog.  So I called Rick on a  Sunday afternoon - knowing he could relate to my feelings since neither one of us ever had children of our own but had such a love for our furry friends.  His responds in a father -like endearing word of advise was, "You know what you have to do. Call me later if you need to talk when you get home."  He will always be remembered as the dear person, co-worker & friend that always had an ear to bend, a smile to give freely and a word of advice if asked for - for that is not something found so easily these days in a genuine friend and for that he will be deeply missed.  Love you "Papa Bear" - gone but not forgotten - your co-workers will miss you!

I think I was 9 yrs old when my sister started dating Rick.  It saddens my heart of our loss. Our family is truly blessed that Rick and my sister found their long and winding road back together again. I am so thankful that I was able to make it to Las Vegas and spend some time with Rick and be there for my sister during a difficult time. Rick was such an honest, kind and gentle person. I will miss him always.  Rest in peace Ricky.

Rick was in our hearts long before we ever met him because he always has dwelled in the heart of our dear friend Donna. When we met Donna, 20 years ago, we also met Rick. For years we heard stories and tales about this wonderful person called Rick. Donna would always light up when she spoke his name.  We knew Rick as the joy and light in our friend's face, and as the special place where he obviously lived in her heart. When they reunited it was like watching all the pieces of our beloved friend's life finally fall into place--and that place was in Ricks arms.  We physically met Rick for the first time at their wedding, that we had the pleasure of videotaping. Even through the lens of a camera Rick filled every inch of those huge shoes Donna had always shown him in. His warm presence filled that room and filled our hearts at the same time. The sound of his voice seemed always to seamlessly melt into easy laughter. And to hear them laugh together was such a pleasure, I can't begin to describe it. He was special to Donna so he was special to me. Donna moved far away from us to be with this wonderful man. But the first time I heard that laughter I knew all the pieces were right where they were suppose to be. This is the memory if Rick that will live on in me. We are so saddened for your loss. I've known Rick since we were teenagers and he was truly a teddy bear.  A big guy with a big heart. I know I'll never be able to listen to a Grateful Dead song without thinking of Rick. My sincerest sympathies go out to Donna and the rest of the Wollman family. He was a Bay Terrace icon and will surely be missed.

IT SADDENS MY HEART TO HAVE TO BID FAREWELL TO RICK, WHOM I HAVE BEEN FRIENDS WITH FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS.  I HAD THE BLESSING OF HAVING BEEN ABLE TO SHARE SOME TIME WITH RICK AND HIS WIFE, DONNA, ONLY A FEW WEEKS AGO.  FOR THOSE WHO WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE KNOWN RICK, THEY KNOW HE WAS A GREAT GUY.  HE WAS NEVER WHAT SOME MAY REFER TO AS A TROUBLEMAKER BUT , IF THERE WAS TROUBLE, HE WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR HIS FRIENDS.  I DON'T SAY "GOODBYE" MY FRIEND, I SAY "I'LL SEE YOU LATER."

Dear Donna, I am more than saddened at this news, I know how happy you and Rick always were, I remember how you had said that he was your soul mate. He will me so missed, I'm sure, by many. My heart breaks for you and your family.

When you needed a Friend; Rick was always there. Most of the "older" Guys made a big deal about our age differences, not Rick. He gladly was a Friend to all of us in the Neighborhood. I never heard a cross word from him, nor did I ever hear Rick say anything bad about anyone. He will be missed by us all for years, aND YEARS TO COME.

I am so sorry to hear about Rick. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help at this time.  My heart aches for you. I know you lost your best friend. I will call you.

Rick was an awesome person. I got to know Rick when he and my sister Tammy worked togther at Sara Lee and Farmer Brothers. I always looked forward to seeing him because he always had a hug and a smile for you. Rick reminded me of my own father (how has passed on too). Rick you will be missed but I know one thing you and my father are both up in Heaven tinkering around with many things and sharing stories about the Drag Races. I will miss you Papa Bear. ricky and jeff lived 2 doors  from us .. i have known him since i was  8. He was very kind...and always tried to  include me and my sister in playing games...i used to play football with the boys on the block...he taught me  about the game .we  are so sorry for your loss donna,amy and jeff.    joann romanelli calabrese

Ricky was a very special person. I knew this the very first time I met him. We immediately became close friends, and his friendship was one of the greatest joys in my life. I loved my friend with all of my heart and I know he felt the same way about me. I really don't know how I am going to manage never being able to pick up the phone and talking to him. No matter what was going on we'd both always be out of breath from laughing. He is the biggest knucklehead that I trully trully loved. I will always be broken hearted because Imiss my friend so much. But I know that if there is a heaven Ricky is already there most likely doing something he really enjoys. He was my angel on earth and now he is my angel in heaven....
