Richard “Dick” Stephen Subal, 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Las Vegas, NV, with family on January 31, 2024. He was born in Hazleton, PA on January 9, 1934. He was the son of the late Stephen Subal and the late Susan D. (Sabolchick) Subal.
Preceding him in death was his wife, the very love of his life, Helen (Matrishion) Subal. They shared a loving bond in marriage of 63 years!
He is survived by his daughter Michele A. Carlson of Clayton, AL, his son Richard “Rick” S. Subal, Jr. of North Las Vegas, NV., his brother Maurice “Maurie” Nature and his wife Jean of Gilbert, AZ, his grandson Dustin R. Belinski and his wife Danielle and three great grandchildren; Cierra V. Belinski, Lilly P. Belinski and Jacob C. Belinski all of Las Vegas, NV, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He graduated high school at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School, Hazleton, PA and continued his studies at King’s College in Wilkes Barre, PA where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military policeman, Company B, 504th MP. He was a Specialist Third Class and received the National Defense Service Medal prior to receiving an honorable discharge.
His career included business management, business technology, consulting, accounting and finance. His main working relationships were with Leader Data Processing, Micrographics International, Inc., Interface, Inc., all of Hazleton, PA.
He was a member of the Alhambra of Wilkes Barre, PA, an international organization of Catholic men and women dedicated to assisting persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
When there was time for some relaxation and a little fun, he always enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and golf. He enjoyed his golf cart friendly community in Las Vegas. In less than one year after moving there, he was awarded the Johnnie Walker Golf International “Hole-In-One Award”! He enjoyed retirement with his lovely wife Helen and the chance to spend time with family and friends. I believe there was not a day he regretted leaving his snow shovel behind!
Dick / Dad / Pap was a very special man, loved, respected, admired and appreciated by a countless number of people. His love and devotion to God were always a top priority in his life. His life was a true example of living a good life! He will be greatly missed.
The family requests any kindness be paid to any Veterans association or simply reaching out to help someone in need. Those were his philanthropic focuses.
A visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Cheyenne Mortuary, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89129. A chapel service will occur Friday, February 23, 2024 from 10:40 AM to 11:10 AM at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
