Funeral services will be held at Palm Northwest Mortuary 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas NV 89131 on Thursday December 29,2022 at 12:00 PM for a memorial service followed by a Celebration of Life reception from 1:00pm- 3:00pm.
Richard Albert Perks Sr. was born to Albert and Albina Perks on June 20, 1942, in Jersey City NJ.
He attended school in West New York, New Jersey, and played football for Memorial High School. He married his beloved wife Rita Korinek on July 30, 1961, and was the loving father to 3 children Denise, Richard Jr, and Jeffrey.
He worked for the USPS starting out in the mailroom, but his love of computers allowed him multiple promotions to become a computer analyst, and ultimately in management. He retired from the USPS in 1997. He and Rita then decided to retire to the Southwest and moved to Las Vegas Nevada where they enjoyed retirement becoming involved in numerous activities.
Richard continued to remain active even though he was retired as he became an active member of the Master Gardeners Club and did a lot of volunteer work at Red Rock Canyon. He also loved photography taking numerous photos and videos of their travels. In addition, he taught beginner camera classes at the Senior Center. He received several honors from the Master Gardener’s Club. Richard enjoyed life, and he loved nature, with Mount Charleston being one of his favorite places to visit. He also was an active walker, walking 7 miles daily up until he became ill. He also loved to dance and went dancing 2-3 nights a week at some of the local venues in Las Vegas. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, photography, and music. He loved to travel, primarily taking long cruises.
Richard is predeceased by his beloved wife Rita, Parents- Albert and Albina, and brother Albert.
Richard is survived by his 3 children- Denise Licini and husband Scott, Richard Jr. and wife Susan, and Jeffrey; his grandchildren- Mia Nicole Maslanek, Anthony DelGaudio, Jazzlyn Perks,, and Madison Hilty, and greatgrandchildren- Hayden and Logan. He also had a long friendship/companionship with Sharon Derry.
