Richard Clarence Lightner, 84 of Las Vegas, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014. He was born November 13, 1929 to Clarence and Emma Lightner in Newark, New Jersey. Richard served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a decorated veteran. Richard’s early years were spent in the food and beverage industry, where he was a maître d’ at historic Las Vegas classics such as the Top of the Landmark and the Library restaurant. Richard retired after 22 years as supervisor at Nellis Cab Co. Richard was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Anne. Richard is survived by his step daughters, Katie (George) Lystlund and Rachel Simpson; and grandchildren, Justin Loya, Lila Simpson and Ryan Lystlund. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Palm Northwest Mortuary 6701 N. Jones Blvd Las Vegas NV 89131.
