Richard was born on July 30, 1936 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, New York to Virgil Francis and Catherine Ellen Cormie.
He was the youngest of 5 sisters, Eileen Frances Cormie Gailor, Joan Marie Cormie, Mary E Finley ( Cormie); Jaquelyn Ann (Gumley) Cormie, and Margaret Jean Cormie Chatterton.
Richard was raised in Saratoga Springs and Schuylerville, New York and spent most of his early life in New York.
He loved working with his community and was involved with the Boght Fire Department as a Volunteer Firefighter in Latham, New York.
He spent 26 years as a chef for SUNY College in Albany, New York and retired in 1993. After retirement; Some of Richards favorite things to do were spending time with his beautiful wife Adela and going on fun vacations to his favorite places in Las Vegas, Florida, and Texas.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Speciality Cook as well as in the Recruiting Department in Parris Island, South Carolina and received a National Defense Service Medal during his service.
Richards hobbies included Bowling, Golf Video Games, and shopping with his beautiful wife Adela.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Adela B Obuch (Cormie).
Richard is survived by sons Jim Cormier; Jeffery S Cormie; Richard J. Cormie Jr.; Lance M Cormie; and daughter Leigh M. LaPlante (Cormie).
Grandchildren; Zachary Francis LaPlante, Andrew James LaPlante, and Joshua Leigh LaPlante (Children of Leigh Maureen LaPlante (Cormie) and Francis George LaPlante Jr.)
Tayler Lee Prater (Cormie) and Steven Dakota Cormie ( Children of Jeffrey Scott Cormie and Renee Marie Cormie (LePage).
Sean Patrick Cormie, Kaliah Bree Cormie, Kevin James Cormie, Chloe Elizabeth Cormie, Kendra Adela Cormie and Ava Jacklyn Cormie, (Children of Richard James Cormie Jr & Heather Marie Castro).
Jonah Michael Cormie (Child of Father is Lance Michael Cormie).
Jacob K. Joseph J. Cormier (Children of Jim and Camie Cormier)

Services and Placement will be held at a later date at The Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York.
