Richard "Jazzmo" Brown, Jr., was born November 4, 1931 in Vicksburg, Mississipi to Wileta and Richard Brown, Sr. Richard had one brother, Jonathan Jackson. Richard graduated from High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1953, where he was a part of the U.S. Boxing Teams and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He moved to Chicago and worked for the Chicago Transit Authority for 32 as a bus driver. Richard's passion was the entertainment world. he was known to many of his friends as "Dr. Jazzmo," a professional disc jockey in Chicago from 1955 to 1979. He had two brief prior marriages, but did not meet the love of his life, Celestine Cohn, until 1988.
He leaves his wife Celestine Cohn-Brown, mother-in-law, Yolanda Cohn, sister-in-law, Kathy Williams, niece, Lynette Brandon, nephew Kristopher Williams, great nephews Christopher and Marcus, great niece Katelyn and cousins Patricia Knights and Helen Buford.
