Harold Rex Wilhoite Jr., age 77, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away from pneumonia on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Harold went by his middle name "Rex" and he was born in Franklin City, Tennessee, May 26, 1944.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents Harold Rex Wilhoite, Sr and Ola Marie Wilhoite, and his older brother Frederick Kenneth Wilhoite.
In the mid 1950's, Rex's parents relocated from Tennessee to Wayne Michigan, where he graduated from high school. Rex had and incredible work ethic and strong desire to be successful.
Upon graduation from high school, Rex joined the Air Force where he served 4 years as an Early Warning Radar Operator. He then began a successful career in the HVAC air filter industry ultimately owning the Air Filter Sales and Service Company in Las Vegas.
Rex was an extrovert and always had and active role in the various clubs and organizations. In the mid 1980's, he was elected to the Wayne Westland School Board in the metro Detroit area. He unsuccessfully ran for Nevada State Legislator in the early 2000's and he was a member of the Las Vegas Executive Association for over 20 years.
Rex loved Corvettes! He owned 18 of them over his life time and was a member of and occasionally a board member in the Las Vegas Corvettes Association . He also loved white water rafting, reading and traveling.
He is survived by his brother Hershel (Karin) , his two sons Jason (Lynn) and Jeremy (Irina), four grandchildren, 3 nieces, one nephew and many cousins.
A funeral service for Rex will be held Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123, followed by a reception from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
