Raymond C Spigener was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone very special to just about everyone close to him. To family and friends who knew him best, Ray will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Ray was born on March 30, 1967 at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the son of Raymond Calvin Spigener and Patricia Jane Harrington. Ray grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ray was raised with 5 Siblings. He had Peter, Paul, Phillip, Penny Rowell, and Glen Spigener. Ray was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Ray had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world, eager to explore everything around him, even reading the encyclopedia from A-Z at a young age. Ray was an active child who took part in Pop Warner and High School football - until it was no longer fun. In his spare time he liked riding bikes and exploring the city/desert. To Ray, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.
A typical teenager, Ray had a happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Western High School in 1985. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. His favorite class in high school was Coach Henningson’s History Class - or just ditching. He was awarded Western High School’s “Best Legs” and 1985 senior class mosaic “Most Wanted” award.
Ray enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Ray was able to manage the balancing act. He attended some classes at CSN and IT Trade School.
Always considered a good friend to those he knew, Ray enjoyed a broad group of
acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. While growing up, some of his best memories were ones he made when camping, hiking or doing general shenanigans with Huntley Cox. He was well known and well liked by many, in fact too many to mention (you know who you are). Special props to John Thompson for always taking the rap.
Empathic and loyal, Ray was committed to making his family happy. Ray worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Ray was blessed with three children, Sierra, Miranda, and Raymond. Another blessing for Ray was the gift of one grandson on the way, Mars Spigener Tapp.
Fortunately, Ray enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ray worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was IT Security Engineer for 16 plus years at American Casino Entertainment. Ray always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Ray enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were hiking, camping, exploring nature, gardening, or just spending time with his kids. He enjoyed his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Ray had a love for spending time with his kids watching TV. Tops on his list were History Channel, Discovery Channel and Ghost Adventures. Ray enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Some of his favorite vacations included his yearly Halloween Disneyland trips with his kids.
Ray was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. His favorite being his ancient cat, Peanut.
When Ray’s retirement finally arrived and he entered semi-retirement in Oct 2017, he was well prepared. Even in retirement, Ray continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances.
Ray passed away on May 19, 2019 at home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his three children Sierra, Miranda and Raymond, his ex-spouse Tracy Spigener, his current partner Erin Parker, his brothers Paul, Phillip, Glenn and his sister Penny. Services were held at Palm Northwest Mortuary. Simply stated, Ray was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ray leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Raymond C Spigener.
