Raymond was born September 3rd, 1948 in Los Angles, California, the second child of four and the first son born to James and Evelyn Session. He was a very quiet child but extremely athletic. He was the fastest thing on 2 feet in his neighborhood. Raymond attended 96th street elementary school where he met James Monroe, known to locals as “Shorty” and his family moved in across the street and the rest is history. Raymond and Shorty had a friendship that lasted 65 years.
Raymond attended Bret Hart Junior High School where he graduated as class president. He went on to graduate from Washington High School in the class of 1966. After high school he served in the US Army where he did a tour in Vietnam and earned several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, an Army Commendation, and a Good Conduct Medal. Upon his return from Vietnam, he attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College. He later began a career at Pacific Bell, which became AT&T. He retired in 2009 after 33 years of service.
July 1978, Raymond married Arazola Nadine Newhouse and they would be joined until his passing. Over 45 years together, they raised two daughters and watched their family multiply with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Golfing was Raymond's passion; however he enjoyed watching football and basketball.
Raymond was a loving father and grandfather who called his great-grandchildren “the crew”. Over the years, he was never one to miss a graduation, soccer game, face a school bully or compete in a pretend cook-off. He always had a funny, unbelievable story to tell about his youth, which made you laugh and keep everyone in an uproar; hence making everyone wonder how he could have possibly received a Good Conduct Medal.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Arazola Nadine Session; two daughters Lenecia Session and Kimberly Session; three grandchildren, Sheniece Smith, Porsche Purnell [Michael Macauley], Kameron Scott; and three great grandchildren, Jaxon-Ray (Jack) Macauley, Jameson Macauley and Elliana Macauley. Raymond also leaves behind one sister, Jamie Session [Murad Rahman] and two brothers George Session [Jennifer] and David Session [Katrina] and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services for Raymond will be held at Todd Memorial Chapel in Pomona, California. His final resting place will be the Veteran’s National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
