Ralph Leonard Berger, born November 5, 1939 in New York City. He was a proud Las Vegas for the past 56 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Friedman in 1960 & soon after, the newlyweds, along with his parents & two brothers, moved cross country, to make Las Vegas their home. He began his 36 year career as a Computer Systems Analyst at EG&G in 1961, & retired in 1997. Ralph prided himself on his genuine enjoyment of people & friendships...he made friends easily everywhere he went, particularly at a few of his favorite local haunts, Vons, Weiss Deli, & his favorite, Joey’s New York Pizza. A lifelong Democrat, (much to his very Republican daughter’s chagrin) Ralph had become quite the political animal throughout the past several presidential elections. In fact, on most evenings, Ralph would conduct rather spirited (i.e. loud ) repartee with a variety cable TV political pundits...all from the comfort of his favorite recliner. Another of Ralph’s great joys came from his meticulously cared-for front & backyards. From his perfectly manicured lawns, pristine pool, prized rose bushes, & delicious Vegas-defying fruit trees, Ralph took immense pride in the beauty he could create while living in Las Vegas. Of his many interests, sports always finished at the top of his list. While Ralph was a lifelong NY Yankees fan, nothing topped his passion for UNLV Runnin’ Rebel basketball. He instilled that same love in his daughter, Alicia at age 5, as they attended every home & many road games played by their Runnin’ Rebel’s. More than anything, Ralph loved his family and spending time with them was always his greatest joy. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda Berger of Henderson, daughter, Alicia Jacobs of Las Vegas, & daughter, Monet Berger Galanis of Los Angeles. 4 Grandpups, Sparkle, Star, Baby Wayner & Newton. Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Moe & Faye Berger, brothers, Irv & Artie, & their wives, Gloria & Natalie Berger, & nephew, Joel Berger. He’s survived by beloved sister-in-law, Harriet Hecht, AZ, nieces & nephews, Helene Smith, LV, Beth Gambardella, LV, Brian Berger, LV, Pamela Lellouche LV, Erica Goodman, WA, & Nieta Shapiro MD, PA. And also 2 grandnieces & 8 grandnephews. The family would like to thank his incredibly dedicated & gifted physicians, Dr Loring Jacobs, Dr Ed Kingsley, & Dr Rajat Sood. All of whom meant the world to Ralph. A Memorial Service will be on Sunday November 5, 2017 at 4:00pm at King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas NV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Nevada SPCA in memory of Ralph’s precious pups, Rufus & Bettina Berger.
