It is with sadness we share the passing of Priscilla Kenwood, 75, of Henderson, Nevada, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. She was born on October 1,1948 in Brooklyn, NY to Helen (nee Burgermeister) and Peter Chomko. She is predeceased by her parents and beloved daughter, Jennifer Rose Hale and survived by her husband of 42 years, Mel Kenwood; two brothers, Peter Chomko and Thomas Chomko; two sisters, Diane Damiani and Ellen Lilli; son, Dennis Hale; two stepsons, Bruce Kenwood (Audrey) and Marc Kenwood (Michelle); eleven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Priscilla was raised in Minneola, NY, and lived in Florida before moving to Henderson, NV with the birth of granddaughter Renee Jordan. She was very active with Chabad of Henderson and took part in life celebrations. She maintained a kosher home with appropriate serving and cookware to follow traditional Jewish dietary rules and holy days. She honored the Sabbath. She, her daughter-in-law, Michelle, and three granddaughters lit the Sabbath candles each Friday night. The family always gathered at the Kenwood home for Shabbat and Jewish holidays. She cooked the appropriate food and always had toys and games for her grandchildren to celebrate each occasion. Her local grandchildren enjoyed going to their home for Shabbat dinners. They celebrated Shabbat as a family with regular sleepovers, spending the day swimming in their pool, splashing in the hot tub, and playing video games.
Priscilla was a creative knitter and made beautiful sweaters for her grandchildren and taught each of them this skill so they could knit their own hats. She was also a good listener and was kind of all. On one occasion of her kindness, she babysat her newly born twin grandchildren, Isabella and Ethen four days a week, so Michelle could return to teaching. Fortunately, all of her grandchildren, who range in age from 10 to 24, are old enough to have and retain wonderful memories of their amazing grandmother. Forever in pictures. Never to depart. Forever remaining in our hearts.
Services for Priscilla will be held at 1:00PM on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas, NV. The family request that donations in Priscilla’s memory be made to Chabad of Henderson or Camp Nageela West in lieu of flowers.
