Our mom, Hipólita Ramírez, was born on July 24, 1925 in El Salvador to Isabel Ramírez and Petrona Martínez. Our grandparents separated when our mom was a very little girl. Due to unfortunate circumstances, she was unable to live with either our grandmother or our grandfather. She was forced to work very hard from a very young age. She was treated like an adult and given adult responsibilities, so she unfortunately never had the life of a child. She had a hard life growing up, but she never gave up. God always protected her and guided her throughout her life.
Our mother was never sent to school, so she never learned to read and write. However, she was very smart and very good with numbers! Not knowing how to read or write didn't stop her from being her own boss and running her own business. My mom's business was selling her own handmade candies to individual small shops and schools. She also sold clothing for men, women, and children throughout El Salvador. She ran and kept all of her memory accounts and people tried to trick her into not believing that she could know the exact amount each client owned. She traveled through El Salvador by bus every day. She would leave home at 3 or 4 in the morning and return around 6 in the afternoon or later. He worked hard to make sure we had our daily bread, were clothed, and had a roof over our heads.
For most of her life she was a single mother. She not only raised her own children, but she also helped raise some of her grandchildren. Our mom was a very strict, hardworking and honest person. We owe it to our mom for what we are now, responsible, honest and hardworking people. The first time she came to the United States, she did not stay long because life here was very different from life in her home country. She thought that if she stayed in the United States for too long, she would die of boredom. Our mom was a very special person and she touched so many lives in El Salvador and here in the United States.
Around 1991 she was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ at the First Apostolic Church in Las Vegas. Our mom had the privilege of being baptized by Pastor Héctor Flores. Our mom didn't drive, so she took the bus. Nonetheless, she always managed to attend all the church services and events, and most of the time she was the first to arrive at the church. She was a great example for all of us. She won't be able to see the new building, but she contributed to the construction of the new Apostolic Harvest Church. She was a great prayer warrior and was willing to help the church in any way she could and support her brothers and sisters in Christ. She was always reminding our little children at church how to behave in God's house. After our mom was baptized, she lived to serve and love God and she did it with all her heart.
Our mom had 20 pregnancies, unfortunately due to malnutrition she lost several of her babies. Our mom liked to listen to the Bible, listen to Christian music, travel to church events and she loved the time she spent with her sisters in Christ. Above all, she loved the company of her children, her grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren and other family members. She was the strongest rock in our family.
My mom was the strongest and most incredible woman I have ever known. She was my mom and dad, and I will miss you so much, mom!
