Phyllis E Shugars

Our dear mother, Phyllis Elaine Shugars, sadly passed away on January 6, 2024 at the age of 92 while surrounded by several close family members. She was born in Oregon, Illinois and came west with her husband and growing family to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1955. This is where they raised their family, loving, caring, and supporting them always, and she died after living a long, family-centered life.

For many years she was a cashier for the Horseshoe Hotel and Casino downtown working swing shift, and finished her career at the Excalibur. She loved helping people, strangers and family alike. She’d give her last dollar away to help someone.

She was a widow of 33 years to Charles R. Shugars, her trusted, hardworking, and loving husband. Together they had six children; Diane Moore (deceased), Kim Shugars, Charles Shugars, Steven Shugars, Rose Shugars, and Casey Shugars. In addition she had 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Her family was one of her greatest achievements of her life. Many of her great grand children called her ‘Nany’.

A visitation for Phyllis will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A committal service will occur Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
