Phyllis Dorman, 93, passed peacefully on March 13, 2021 at Nathan Adelson Hospice. Phyllis was born on December 9, 1927 in La Grande, Oregon to Ed and Maxine Byers. She graduated from Laramie High School in 1945 and then attended the University of Wyoming. While in college she met and married Otis Dorman in 1948. That same year they moved to Las Vegas and both worked in the gaming industry. In 1956 they had their first child, Jeffrey, followed by two daughters, Stacy, and Jamie. During those years she had been active in many civic and charity programs. After she and Otis divorced, she worked in retail for Joseph Magnin and Gucci. In 1983 she earned her real estate license and worked for Lewis Homes as a Real Estate sales agent.
Phyllis had an exceptionally creative side and enjoyed sewing, painting, crafting, and gardening. She had a knack for taking something old and repurposing it into something fun and useful again. She also enjoyed reading, going to movies, and cooking. While raising her children she enjoyed the outdoors whether it was family skiing trips or picnicking at Mt. Charleston and Red Rock Canyon.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her former husband Otis Dorman, sister Shirley Miawsky, son Jeffrey Dorman, and granddaughter Paige Evans.
She is survived by her daughters Stacy Sherrard and Jamie (Robert) Evans; grandchildren, Courtney Craft, Kayla (Chris) Banakas and Kase Sherrard all of Las Vegas, and two great-granddaughters Cadence Craft of Colorado Springs, CO, and Isla Banakas of Las Vegas.
No services are planned. Memorial donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice in her honor.
