On Monday July 8, 2024, our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Phyllis Brown passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Phyllis passed away just a few days before her 68th wedding anniversary to her husband Robert A. Brown. Lots of happy years, with two daughters, six grandchildren , five great grandchildren and many loving friends and travel adventures.
Phyllis was born in Hinkley, California , on April 30, 1939 to Charlotte Stewart Harrison and James Harrison . As an only child, Phyllis loved to be with her family and friends. Her favorite thing to do was to
rock her grandbabies, which led her to volunteer in the NICU at Summerlin Hospital, always ready with open arms.
She graduated from Rancho High School in 1957, serving as Asst. Editor of the Campus Journal, earning a journalism scholarship to University of Nevada, which she gave up to marry and start a family with the love of her life Robert. She was an excellent homemaker, baker and seamstress, sewing a lot of her daughter’s clothes.
Phyllis raised her daughters and then went to work in banking and customer relations at Nevada Power Company where she made lifelong friends. One of her wishes was to join the Daughters of the American Revolution, and it took (with help) a few years to find her “patriot” and be granted membership. Phyllis joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in her 20’s and served and taught in many positions, giving her great joy.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Brown, daughters, Robin (Marty Barrett) and Kelly (Doug Smith), six grandchildren - Eric, Kathryn, Andrew, Kyle, Cameron & Spencer and five (and growing) great grandchildren - Xavior, Remi, Beau, Beckham and Oakley.
To honor Phyllis’ life, there will be a memorial service at 12:00 noon, Monday, July 29th, 2024 at Palm Mortuary Northwest, Commitment 1:00 pm with a light lunch to follow. Phyllis’ favorite color was blue and we encourage everyone to wear their favorite color.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her name to St.Judes Ranch for Children and The Alzheimer Association.
