Just heard this news in Oregon. So shocked and saddened for Eugenia and the rest of the family. We have such remarkably great memories of our time in Portland at OHSU with each of you. Also our special chance meeting in Hawaii! Eugenia,  Suzy and I admire you and Peter more than you realize. I certainly hope you have gained a measure of peace with passage of time. God bless Peter.

I’m in shock. I understand it was 9 months ago, but I had no idea he passed away. I get treatments once a year, and he was my favorite doctor of all times. We had a lot of talks about music, because I was a classically trained pianist that played with symphonies at one time. He was so kind and gentle, I looked forward to seeing him. I’m so sad. I’m so sorry to his family for your loss. It’s tragic. I didn’t know he was so into dogs and animals. So are we, we’ll donate.

 We had the pleasure of meeting him .  He was the first Dr to actually listen and he was able to help my husband .   He actually gave my husband something to live for .   He was such a caring awesome Doctor .   He is greatly missed.   Just wanted his family to know he was a great man .  Very sad we all lost him    Hope you are celebrating your Birthday in heaven. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Vajtai for many years at Mountainview Hospital. He was loved by all the nurses as a kind and caring surgeon. His patients trusted and respected him. He was so incredibly proud of his family and often shared photos of adventures they shared. His granddaughters were the light in his life. My deepest condolences to your family. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by myself and the Mountainview community.

I was so very sorry to hear the news about Peter. What a great man! He was a kind, thoughtful, and soft spoken sweet man. Just having the chance to talk to him made you feel better. He was such a positive individual. Such a tragic loss. My thoughts are with his family.

I had the honor of working with him and the good fortune to have him as a physician to a family member.  Kindness, strength, compassion, intelligence, patience, the list of qualities is endless with him. The one thing I will remember the most though is the way he made me feel, comfortable. A wonderful man, you will be missed. Deepest condolences to his family. 

Dr Vajtai operated on mu husband in 2004 he was always so kind and understanding there were some unexpected complications and he spent many hours with me and my family  doing all that he could very respected Doctor may he Rest In Heavenly Peace .

He was such a kind gentle man. I enjoyed working with him when I was  at Valley Hospital.  My condolences to the family

A wonderful communicator and storyteller, Dr. Vajtai always showed such care and respect for all who crossed his path, from the hospital housekeepers to the nurses and other physicians. We often shared a dessert in the doctor’s lounge, and he would just glow as he showed us pictures of his daughters and granddaughters. They were clearly the center of his universe. I loved listening to his stories and interpretations of current events because they always had a global perspective. The world has lost a good man, a lifelong learner, a kind soul. May his family take some solace knowing that he made the world a better place and will be sorely missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Vajtai for 10 years. He is the ultimate gentleman and a terrific surgeon. His patients and coworkers were very fond of him. He had a special talent of making everyone feel important. He always went out of his way to make sure everyone was satisfied with their care. He was always professional and compassionate.  As a nurse, I appreciated his kindness and knowledge. He will be missed desperately by many! He was well loved! This picture is from my going away party! I felt like royalty because he came to my party! 


One of the most trusted, compassionate, and kind doctor I have had the pleasure of interacting and working with.  It’s sad that I won’t be able to see that smiling face of yours anymore.  My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family.  

Thank you Dr Vajtai for being one of the most beautiful souls I have crossed paths with. You were always respectful, compassionate, and sympathetic to all your patients and nurses no matter what time of day or night. Not only were your hands and mind gifted, but your heart was special. It was always a pleasure to talk with you and learn from you. Your patients always spoke very highly of you as well. May you rest peacefully. Condolences to your family.
