Patrick "Sully" Sullivan, a beloved resident of Las Vegas, unexpectedly passed away in his home on September 13, 2023. He was born on December 31, 1958, in Union City, New Jersey, to his parents, John L. and Dorothy Sullivan.
Sully is survived by his father, John L. Sullivan Sr., and his stepmother, Pauline Sullivan. He leaves behind his brother, Curtis Sullivan, and his sister, Kathryn, along with her husband, Richard Howell. His mother Dorothy Sullivan, and his brother, John L. Sullivan Jr., preceded him in death.
A proud resident of Las Vegas for 55 years, originally hailed from Grandview, Missouri. In his youth, he was an active participant in pop-warner football and baseball, eventually finding his passion for wrestling in high school. Additionally, he displayed his creative side by enrolling in a Drama Class, where he garnered praise from both his teacher and peers for his acting talent.
During his school years, Sully took on an after-school job at the Tule Spring Zoo, where he cared for animals of all sizes. Remarkably, he was one of the few kids in town to have been bitten by a full-grown leopard, highlighting his fearless nature. Sully's enthusiasm for wildlife extended to bringing critters home to share with his family, despite his mother's objections.
Upon graduating from Western High School, Sully embarked on a new adventure by joining the U.S. Marines, where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Twenty-Nine Palms, California. Following an honorable discharge, he proudly became a member of the local motorcycle chapter of the U.S. Marine Riders. Returning to Las Vegas, Sully found employment in Hotel/Casino Security before transitioning to a successful career in the construction trade. He became a journeyman with BAC Local 3, dedicating 35 years to his craft. Throughout his career, Sully contributed his expertise to numerous major hotels, casinos, and commercial buildings in Las Vegas. He was even sought after for projects in California, Washington State, Kansas, and Hawaii.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Sully became an accomplished entertainer as a stand-up comedian. He graced the stages of the Las Vegas Strip and performed at various local and out-of-state venues.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Sully's life will take place at the Las Vegas Marine Leatherneck Clubhouse on October 22 at 1:00 PM. The internment of his ashes will be a private family event held at the Veteran Cemetery in Boulder City. Patrick "Sully" Sullivan will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering dedication to his work, and his ability to make others laugh. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him
