The family relocated to East Chicago, Indiana. Ora received her early education in the East Chicago school system and graduated from George Washington High School in 1954.
Ora accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of St. Timothy Community Church in Gary, Indiana. She remained very active until she relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. After relocating, Ora joined Second Baptist church and was a devoted member under the leadership of the Late Pastor Willie Davis and Pastor Donald Chaney. She later joined Renaissance Fellowship under the Pastoral leadership of Pastor Donald Chaney, where she remained faithful.
Ora was a hard worker and was employed as a supervisor at Metro Glass in Dolton, Illinois and Lever Brothers in Hammond, Indiana. She later worked for the Lake County Superior Court (Judge Moss), Crown Point, Indiana until her retirement. She soon came out of retirement to help launch the Expertise School of Beauty. Ora worked as a Student Success Coordinator where she mentored students. She was also a mentor for the Summer Business Institute (SBI). She had a positive impact on many lives.
Ora was a very well respected and elegant diva. Ora loved life and giving advice. She lived a full life and on her own terms. Very important to her was advising the importance of saving money. This was only second to her time spent as a member and on the Board of Directors of Indiana Black Expo.
Joy comes in the morning. Early in the morning on May 8, 2021, The Lord called her name and she answered. She was now ready to be offered. The time of her departure was at hand. She had fought a good fight. She had finished her course and kept the faith. Well done thou good and faithful servant.
She leaves to cherish her memories; daughter; Donna (Celeritas “Larry”) Green of Southaven, Mississippi, brother; Robert (Loretta) Mason of East Chicago, Indiana and sister; Georgia (James) Hayden of Las
Vegas, Nevada. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; George and Sadie Mason, brother; Calvin Mason and sisters; Mildred Jackson and Baby Mason.
