Olga was born on Christmas Eve, 1936 in Port Huron, Michigan to Nickolas and Amelia Toodzio who had migrated from Hungry just a few years earlier. Olga's siblings are Leo (deceased), Ann Dillon (deceased), Amiel Toodzio, Nick Toodzio and Eva Mertz. Olga grew up on a 160-acre farm in Jeddo, Michigan where her days were filled with tending to chores with plenty of time for lively antics with her siblings.
Olga graduated with Honors in the Class of 1955 from St. Stephens High School in Port Huron, Michigan. She went on to obtain a Liberal Arts degree from Port Huron Junior College in 1957. Olga had a passion for the nursing profession and began working in a local hospital, as she tended to one of her many patients she was introduced to Richard I Wright (deceased) who she married in June of 1960 at the age of 23. Olga had four children, Richard J. Wright, Carrie L. Rutledge, Kevin I. Wright, and Mary Sue Charlesworth.
The family moved out west to the foothills of Milpitas, California, where they thrived. Olga returned to nursing in 1970 and had a long and meaningful career at Alexian Brothers Hospital in San Jose, California. Olga was particular to working the OB/GYN floor tending to newborns and their mothers. Olga loved her job and had a fierce work ethic. In 1981, she became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and was praised and rewarded with hundreds of citations, awards, thanks and praise from families she cared for, and notes from lifelong friends. Olga had a passion of life and giving to those in need throughout her career and beyond.
Olga never missed a moment to enjoy life as well. Family gatherings and parties with friends, traveled and explored the different cultures and wonders of the world. Olga was a dedicated league bowler throughout the decades. One of her passions was to bake with specialty in cookies, pies, rolls, and cream puffs. Olga created a family tradition which is now carried out through her family as an annual cookie frosting gathering.
Olga retired in 2002 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Olga became certified as a Senior Citizen Counselor, and also volunteered at local hospitals. Olga continued to be in involved with bowling leagues, charities, veterans, and the church. Olga particularly enjoyed the local chapter of the Red Hats Society which provides women of all ages with opportunities for pleasant social interaction to reconnect with old friends and making new ones.
Olga kept current with events, was a devout Republican, loved and believed in GOD. She always sacrificed her time and resources to help family, and those in need. A brilliant and very smart woman, she reflects God’s creation “Angel” as defined by a very good, kind and gentle person.
She is survived by her four children, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with another on the way.
In Lieu of flowers, Olga contributed to a great number of charities, the family requests donation in her name to the Wounded Warrior foundation, Disabled Veterans, and The Cancer Foundation.
Funeral service will be held 2:00pm, 5 February 2021 at Palm Eastern Mortuary, Burial will be at 3:00pm Palm Eastern Cemetery.
