Niel Joseph Laudati passed away peacefully after a short illness on February 10, 2023, he was 82. He was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Angelina Albergato Laudati and the late Aniello Laudati. He was a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for 47 years.
He was the devoted and loving husband of MaryAnn Coppola Laudati for more than 59 years. In addition to his wife, Niel is survived by his daughter, Barbara Laudati Rose, and her husband Brian, of Las Vegas and son Niel Laudati and his wife Demian, of Springfield, Oregon. He was the proud and loving grandfather of five grandchildren who he adored: Nicholas, Jonathan and Olivia Rose of Las Vegas and Evan and Claire Laudati of Oregon.
He was also the brother of the late Nancy Laudati Derrig and her husband the late Richard Derrig, and uncle to Jill Derrig Rossi and Matthew Derrig, all of Rhode Island.
Niel served in the United States Army National Guard from 1962 to 1968. After being honorably discharged as Sergeant from the military, he worked for Suffolk Manufacturing Co., of Bloomfield, New Jersey. The company made cigar boxes and novelty boxes of all kinds. In 1976 Niel and MaryAnn moved to Las Vegas with their two children. Niel spent the next 25 years managing local restaurants until he retired in 2001.
Niel enjoyed following his favorite sports teams, the New York Giants, New York Yankees and more recently the Vegas Golden Knights. He also loved classic cars and was an avid reader with too many books to count. However, he was happiest when surrounded by his family who were his greatest source of pride and joy. He was loved by his family and friends and he will be missed and remembered for his great humor, generosity, and thoughtfulness.
Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral mass which will be held at noon on Saturday, March 4th, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased if contributions are made in his memory to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas.
