Ngoc Nguyen

July 26, 1927 – January 6, 2023

Ngoc Nguyen, 95, a resident of Las Vegas since 1983, passed away peacefully at Delmar Gardens of Green Valley on January 6, 2023.

Ngoc was born in Saigon, Vietnam, on July 26, 1927. He followed his passion for music and during his time as a professional musician and teacher at the Saigon Conservatory, he met his soul mate, Nga Nguyen.

In 1948, Nga and Ngoc married and started a lifelong adventure in love. They were blessed with a total of 10 children. All of them followed their parents and became talented musicians – performing in two different family bands.

After the devastating war, the eldest sister married an Officer in the US Air Force, which brought her to Las Vegas. In 1983, the rest of the family followed, and Nga and Ngoc settled in Las Vegas with their children.

Nga and Ngoc continued their music collaboration in Las Vegas, performing for the local community at various events. Ngoc devoted much of his time to philanthropy, helping other refugees from Vietnam as they settled in the USA. He had a passion for helping to form a strong social and cultural community and was instrumental in establishing the Vietnamese Catholic Church in Las Vegas.

Ngoc Nguyen is survived by his daughter-in-law Thoa Nguyen, daughter Trang Moore, John (Chau) Nguyen and wife Kim Yen, daughter-in-law Van Nguyen, daughter Lan and husband Phat Doan, daughter-in-law Trung Nguyen, daughter Dee and husband Dale Jager, daughter Tram and husband Quincy Tran, daughter Ann and husband Karl Meyer and daughter Thuy and husband James Hughes. He had 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Ngoc Nguyen was a dedicated father who loved God and his family. He will forever be missed but we know that he is resting in heaven with our Lord.

A visitation for Ngoc will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of La Vang, 4835 S Pearl St, Las Vegas, NV 89121 with a committal service to follow at Palm Eastern Cemetery at 1:00PM.
