Nancy Lynne Erwin, 77, passed away on Friday, March 4th, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV, after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease and recent heart related issues. Nancy was born on December 22nd, 1944, in Indianapolis, IN, in the town of Speedway, to J. Lynn and Martha Burton. She has 2 older sisters, Donna, and Anne. As a young girl, Nancy loved to dance and ice skate. She met the love of her life, Jerry Erwin, in junior high school, and they spent the next 60+ years together, 58 of them as husband and wife. After Jerry & Nancy graduated high school, they got married and had their first son James in 1964, their daughter Jerri Lynne in 1971, relocated to Las Vegas in the late 1970’s, and had their youngest son Justin in 1983.
As the grandkids were born and the family expanded, Nancy continued to shower all the generations with love. She was consistently there to support her entire family when needed, whether it be a shoulder to cry on or a person to laugh with. Her family traditions and recipes will live in her family for generations to come. With her kind and gentle calmness, Nancy made the world around her a better place. She would always see the good in people and be the first to help someone in need. Nancy will now reunite with her late daughter, Jerri Lynne, who passed in November 2019 and her late sister Donna who passed in June 2018. Nancy is survived by her husband Gerald Erwin, sister Anne Etienne, son James Erwin, son Justin Erwin, granddaughters Afton Erwin & Ashlee Erwin Menocal (daughters of James Erwin & Kimberlee Jameson Vargas), grandson Blake Barlow & granddaughter Brianna Barlow (son & daughter of Jerri Lynne & son-in-law Eddie Barlow), great granddaughter Amaya Newman (daughter of Afton Erwin & Calvin Newman), daughter-in-law Chevy Erwin (wife of Justin Erwin), grandson-in-law Manny Menocal (husband of Ashlee Erwin Menocal), & Nancy’s soon-to-be new great grand-baby (Ashlee & Manny’s baby-to-be).
In addition to being the rock for her husband and the rest of her family, Nancy had a special love for dogs, especially golden retrievers. She enjoyed bringing her trained therapy dog to visit patients in hospitals and even to schools where young kids could read to them. Nancy is also a breast cancer survivor of 20+ years. Nancy is very loved and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends, but her strength underneath her big heart and calm warmth will remain in everyone that she touched.
The viewing will be held at Palm Northwest Mortuary – 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV, 89131 on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022 from 11am-2pm, followed by the services at 2pm.
