Minnie Staton was born February 5, 1930 to David and Anna Lou Morton; at Harlem Hospital, New York City, New York. When our Heavenly Father called Minnie home she departed this life on January 26, 2014 at 6:48pm at the Creekside Hospice facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Minnie enjoyed childhood with her siblings and a large extended family that consisted of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in the thirties and forties. Minnie attended Public School 57 in Harlem. She graduated from high school and went to the prestigious New York University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Math and Business and graduated with honors.
Minnie had always wanted to work for the City of New York and took all of the exams it was like having a “feather in your cap” she would say. Minnie landed her first job with the City of New York in the Accounting Department, she had several promotions and retired after 24 years as Senior Supervisor with the Dept. of Finance for the City of New York.
Minnie married Lenward Staton in Elkton, Maryland on August 21, 1964. They moved from Harlem to Sprindfield Gardens, Queens New York until they both retired. Minnie and Lenny loved to travel and they decided to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1988. She lost the love of her life on Tuesday, February 15, 2011.
Minnie enjoyed life, she liked to play cards, shop, have lunch with the ladies (her very active social network) she would love to sit back with a good book, newspaper, magazines and listen to the radio and watch a good program on television.
