It is with great sorrow that the family of Mindee (Wickel) Garamendi, of Las Vegas, announces her passing on September 1st, 2023 at the age of 56. Mindee, who was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many, is survived by a loving husband (Ronald Garamendi), two children (Christopher and Tyson), five grandchildren (Dominic, Dylan, Gracie, Nico, & Francesca), and two daughters-in-law (Bree and Alyssa).
Mindee was born in Murray, Utah on August 9th, 1967 to Barry Wickel (father) and Carolyn Stauffer (Mother) in Cottonwood Hospital. Mindee grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where she attended Jordan High School and Bingham High School, and graduated in 1985. Mindee met her husband Ron as high school finished up, and by early 1986 they got married and started a family. Mindee was a loving wife and nurturing mother who enjoyed nothing more than being at home with her family. Mindee possessed the ability to turn every small moment at home into magic, and her home was always one of comfort and warmth.
Through Mindee’s relentless determination and hard work, she became a business owner and successful interior designer, specializing in holiday decor. Although Mindee had her dream career, her true passion was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. The holidays were her favorite time of the year, and these will be the times when she will be missed the most. She loved going all out on decorations and spoiling the grandchildren. She loved getting together to watch scary movies and hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
Mindee’s strength and determination stems from battling health issues that started over 25 years ago, where she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder. Mindee continued to push hard through life to achieve the things that she wanted and did not let these barriers slow her down or steal her shine. After experiencing months of severe illness, multiple biopsies, and innumerable doctor visits, Mindee was admitted to the Ronald Reagan Medical Center at UCLA on June 26th, 2023. Mindee was diagnosed with a rare condition called HLH and Lymphoma. The medical staff in UCLA treated her with tremendous care and compassion, and the Garamendi family is forever grateful for them.
Mindee will be missed greatly by many, but her family and friends will undoubtedly carry on her legacy, morals, and traditions. The Garamendi family welcomes anyone who loved Mindee to join in celebrating her life on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023.
