Michael L. Sessa Jr., 81, of Las Vegas passed away January 14, 2011 after a brave battle against pulmonary fibrosis. He was born November 27, 1929, in Blue Island, Illinois, and resided in Las Vegas for the past 29 years. He retired from the U. S. Marine Corps in 1966. After his career in the Marines he became an integral part of the United States Postal Service, first as a Letter Carrier in Yucaipa, CA, and finally as a Supervisor for the VMF and Express Mail in Las Vegas, retiring in 1988. Michael was proceeded in death by his parents, Michael, Sr. and Antionette of Ventura, California, brothers, Anthony of Blue Island, IL and Robert of Riverside, CA. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Kaye; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Marcia Sessa of San Diego, and Fred and Lea Sessa of Ventura; and sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and David Pyron of Ventura; sons, Michael, and Gary (wife, Chrissy) of Las Vegas, and daughter, Jennifer Schroeder of Des Moines, IA; stepsons, Steven Anderson (wife, Debbie) of Las Vegas, Gregory Anderson (wife, Mona) of Modesto, CA, stepdaughters, Christine Tonks (husband, Gary) of Washington, UT, and Kathleen Gift (husband, Steve) of Syracuse, UT, 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Michael was a decorated Flight Engineer in the Marine Corps who served his country through the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired after almost 20 years of service. He was a Flight Engineer for C-130 aircrafts, logging 3000 hours. He received several awards and medals during his time in the USMC. He enjoyed playing video poker and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Viewing from 3-7 pm on Thursday, January 27, 2011 with Vigil service following at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Funeral at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Friday, January 28, at 9:30 am. Graveside following at 12 pm at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
