Born October 9, 1940 in San Diego, California, he moved to Las Vegas at the age of 8, and remained there the rest of his life with the exception of his four years at Occidental College in Los Angeles. His career in gaming as a blackjack and roulette dealer spanned forty years, twenty-five of which were at the Dunes, and most of the rest at the Riviera. His dealing career fueled his writing career, which included feature articles and columns in Gambling Times, Casino Journal, Valley Explorer and others, and books Dealer’s Special (GBC Press 1979), and Vegas: An Imploded Life ( Amazon Kindle). A particularly special labor of love was being able to create and serve two years as editor of Think Jazz, the newsletter of the newly established Las Vegas Jazz Society. That time held some of his fondest memories. His concurrent career in Education included 17 years as adjunct instructor at UNLV and CSN, 5 years at Desert Rose Adult High School, and 16 years as a substitute teacher for CCSD. Throughout his adult life, he always made it a point to live near the UNLV campus. His family life was most cherished by him, and he especially loved the beautiful beach front community of Cambria, California, where he took his family, nearly every year of their lives.
