SGT MICHAEL MARTIN U.S. Air Force, Retired Michael W. Martin, 51, of Las Vegas, passed away March 11, 2012. He was born Feb. 11, 1961 in Columbus, Miss., and was a 21-year resident of Nevada. Michael was a retired U.S. Air Force sergeant who served during Desert Storm. After serving 20 years in the military, he retired in 2005. Michael was well-loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He loved life, and his favorite pastimes were singing karaoke and spending time with his second family at the Inn Zone. Michael was also a lover of art and enjoyed drawing. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lonnie and Naomi Carter; and paternal grandparents, Thomas and Mariah Martin. He is survived by his father and mother, R.W. and Mary Frances Martin; two sisters, Gloria and Mary Martin; son, Michael J. Martin; daughter, Brittany Martin; and their mother, Roslyn Martin; wife, Chere; and three stepchildren, Stephanie, Lauren, and Lawrence. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The viewing will be 3-7 p.m., Thursday, March 15. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 16, both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. After a memorial service in Las Vegas, Michael will be laid to rest in his hometown of Columbus.
