Mayra Altamirano, 20, of Las Vegas, passed away June 24, 2012. Mayra was born in Managua, Nicaragua. Mayra was a singer, songwriter and author. She wrote a children's book that was to be published about the fight against children's cancer. She had a passion for helping kids while they were battling cancer. She had many children that would spend time in her room as opposed to spending time in the play room while she was in the hospital. Mayra enjoyed arts, crafts and painting. She was a Godmother to many children. A lot of her time was volunteered to Candlelighters Nevada. She was a role model and inspiration to many. Mayra leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Jackie Adams; her daddio, Raymond Roberts; two sisters, Stephanie and Emily Adams; and her grandmother, Mayra Flores. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Saturday, July 7, with funeral services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Candlelighters Nevada.
