Matthew Conrad Steffen Jr. was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Matthew will be remembered as very outgoing, fun, loving, smart, and exceptional.
Matthew was born on February 17, 2002 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the son of Matthew Sr. and Teresa Steffen. Matthew grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Matthew was raised with three siblings. He had three younger sisters, Calista, Elise, and Abbigail. Matthew was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings and they have shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Matthew had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Matthew was an active child who took part in Tie Kwon Do and he was a member of the Robotics Club. In his spare time he liked video games, Legos, and YouTube. However, to Matthew, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his family and friends.
A typical teenager, Matthew had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He attended Leadership Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. His favorite class in high school was Python Programing. The teacher he enjoyed learning from the most was Ms. Powers.
Always considered a great friend to those he knew, Matthew enjoyed a small group of close friends during his lifetime. While growing up, some of his best friends were Jack Thorne, Tristan George, and Jacob Hook.
Matthew was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite team, the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to have fun and to see something new. to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Knott's Berry Farm in California.
Matthew was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Fluffy, a hamster. They were best friends for eighteen months. His family was rounded out by his two cats, Zack and Zoey, two dogs, Winston and Jack Jack, two snakes, and two frogs.
Matthew passed away on January 30, 2018 at home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his father, Matthew Sr., his mother, Teresa, and his three sisters, Calista, Elise, and Abbigail. Services were held at Palm Northwest Mortuary.
Simply stated, Matthew was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring, witty, and kind person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Matthew leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Matthew Conrad Steffen Jr.
