Mary Elizabeth Thomas (also known as Babysis) was born on September 27, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland *to*Joseph Quill and Elizabeth (Trent) Thomas (a.k.a. Miss Lizzy). Mary was raised and educated in Baltimore, along with two brothers: George and James. They all preceded her in death. Her first job was working for a five and dime retail store called Tommy Tucker’s. In 1957, Mary gave birth to her only child, Katherine Kirby, who preceded her in death.
Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. While living in Baltimore, she was a member of the St. Peter’s Claver Catholic Church where her love of BINGO began.
Mary later relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in the early 80's. She worked at several banks including 1st National, Nevada State, and 1st Interstate for a combined total of 24 years before retiring in 2002.
Mary loved dancing and was the life of the party. She loved organized family dinners and get togethers with friends. She touched the lives of numerous people with her love and generosity. Mary was a devoted mother to many and a friend to all. She always had a smile on her face and loved spreading joy to everyone she met.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory; four granddaughters Tia, Delisha, Sade, and Kimberly; six great granddaughters Yakyra, Dyalon, Bless, Xavier, Uryah, and Carlos all of Nevada; one niece Bernadette (daughter of James) of Maryland; cousins and a host of friends.. Services were held at Palm Mortuary. Mary was laid to rest in Palm mortuary. Simply stated, Mary was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Mary leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Mary Elizabeth "Baby Sis" Thomas.
