With love and sorrow in our hearts, Mrs. Mary Ellen Saverino "Mamo, Mama, Grandma, Mom" has peacefully passed while in hospice care on April 27th, 2020 in in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 94 years old.
Mary Ellen is at the roots of family with having 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Marie, four children Cathy, Chris, John and Mike; her grand children Shannon, Dawn, Jamie, Erik, Amy, Matt, Mary, Mark, Theresa and Christopher; and her great grandchildren Jordan, Austin, Autumn, Bryce, Haylee, Seryna, Logan, Nicholas, Carson, Mackenzie, Max, Scarlett, Ryan, Hudson and Parker. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Vincent, parents Mary and Leslie, step-father Stanley, sister Pat, brother Daniel and her grandson JJ.
Mary Ellen Engborg was born on August 7th, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Mary and Leslie. She graduated from Lakeview high school class of 1943. She married the love of her life Vincent Michael Saverino on June 21st, 1947. Her livelihood was being a devoted homemaker and caretaker for her entire family that grew tremendously throughout the years. They settled down in the city of Chicago where they were blessed with 3 children Catherine, Christine and John prior to moving to Southern California where Michael joined the family. After many years in California where they built their lives, they retired in Las Vegas, Nevada where they not only built their own custom dream home, they were able enjoy the many amenities of the metropolis. Mary Ellen and Vincent were blessed to visit with all of their children, grand children and great grand children throughout the years. Their retirement was spent traveling the world together including Italy, Australia, Spain, Russia, Switzerland, New Zealand, Hong Kong and multiple cruises. Mary Ellen prioritized everything in her life around her family and for this we are grateful for all the wonderful memories she has left for us to cherish. Her family will forever remember her as a loving, fair, affectionate, compassionate, nonjudgmental and family-centered individual who encouraged and supported everyone equally and without question. She will forever remain as the example by how to live and she always demonstrated herself in a caring and meaningful manner. There are some people that one lifetime is not enough, and the years passed far too quickly for the ones we spent together, Mary Ellen is one of these individuals. Always on our minds and forever in our hearts shall she remain.
A funeral is scheduled for 3:00 PM on May 6th, 2020 at PALM CHEYENNE MORTUARY: 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89129 with a committal service to follow on May 7th, 2020 at 10:00 AM at SOUTHERN NEVADA VETERAN'S MEMORIAL CEMETERY: 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive
